Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I’ve put together a list of the software, gadgets, and other things that I use on a daily basis.

Workstation

  • MacBook Pro 13″, M1, 8GB RAM

    I was using a 16" Intel-based Thinkpad and the difference is truly striking. I can't believe how productive development is with this device. But if I'm being honest, the touch bar on the Macbook Pro M1 often has issues with lighting.

Development tools

  • VSCode

    I don’t care if it’s missing all of the fancy IDE features everyone else relies on, VSCode is still the best text editor ever made.

  • iTerm2

    I’m honestly not even sure what features I get with this that aren’t just part of the macOS Terminal but it’s what I use. also I use zsh + oh-my-zsh.

  • TablePlus

    Great software for working with databases. Has saved me from building about a thousand admin interfaces for my various projects over the years.

  • DBngin

    I’ve tried a bunch of different database management tools and this is the one that stuck. It’s simple, fast, and has a beautiful UI.

Productivity

  • Lark

    I use Lark for daily communication with my team. It’s like Slack but simple and fast.
